The summer of '26

I was reading something and then I suddenly remembered this year's summer. The worst summer of my life; worst not in some personal way, only in the most obvious way a summer can be.

This was by any margin the hottest Indian summer ever. The only 'okay' part of the day used to be the morning. By 10 am I could feel the rivulets of sweat trickling down my back and I knew the torture had started.

The fans were basically useless. All the fan did was just rotate the hot air and dump it back. The air cooler which used to be called marvelous every year, was downgraded to decent by the swelter.

This year's summer was so ruthless and kicked off with such an intensity that it's very start felt like the peak. And it was so ruthless that it did not even budge until the very end of june. It was only the mid june rain that managed to save us.

If I want to be grateful for something this year, it would be that my vacation coincided with the summer, and I just watched the daily repeat telecast from my sofa. But I won't be so fortunate next year if hell is going to come knocking the door yet again.
